Settingtheexternalmonitortype

Tosettheexternalmonitortype,dothefollowing:

1.Connecttheexternalmonitortoyourcomputer,andthenconnectthemonitortoanelectricaloutlet.

2.Turnontheexternalmonitor.

3.Right-clickonthedesktop,andclickScreenresolution.

Note:Ifyourcomputercannotdetecttheexternalmonitor,clicktheDetectbutton.

4.SelecttheexternalmonitorandsetResolution.

5.ClickAdvancedSettings.

6.ClicktheMonitortab.Checkthemonitorinformationtomakesurethatthemonitortypeiscorrect.Ifit

is,clickOKtoclosethewindow;otherwiseproceedwiththefollowingsteps.

7.Ifmorethantwomonitortypesaredisplayed,selectGenericPnPMonitororGenericNon-PnP

Monitor.

8.ClickProperties.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconrmation,typethepassword

orprovideconrmation.

9.ClicktheDrivertab.

10.ClickUpdateDriver.

11.ClickBrowsemycomputerfordriversoftware,andthenclickLetmepickfromalistofdevice

driversonmycomputer.

12.CleartheShowcompatiblehardwarecheckbox.

13.Selectthecorrectmanufacturerandmodelfortheexternalmonitor.Ifyoucannotndyourmonitoron

thelist,stoptheinstallationofthisdriverandusethedrivershippedwithyourmonitor.

14.Afterupdatingthedriver,clickClose.

15.FortheWindows7operatingsystem,tochangethecolorsettings,right-clickonthedesktop,andclick

Screenresolution.ClickAdvancedSettings,selecttheMonitortab,thensetColors.

16.ClickOK.

Considerationsforconnectinganexternalmonitor

•Wheninstallinganoperatingsystem,youmustinstallthedisplaydriverforyourmonitorthatisprovided

withthecomputer,andthemonitorINFlethatisprovidedwiththeexternalmonitor.

•Ifyousetaresolutionhigherthantheresolutionyouareusingonthecomputermonitor,andusean

externalmonitorthatdoesnotsupportthatresolution,takeadvantageofthevirtualscreenfunction,

whichenablesyoutodisplayonlyapartofthehigh-resolutionscreenimageyourcomputerproduces.

YoucanseeotherpartsoftheimagebymovingthescreenwiththeTrackPointpointingdeviceoranother

pointingdevice.

•Iftheexternalmonitoryouareusingisoutdated,theresolutionandtherefreshratemightbelimited.

(DVI)monitorthroughtheDVIconnectorofthatunit:
